Classificatory disputes about art

Art historians and philosophers of art have long had classificatory disputes about art regarding whether and how a particular cultural artifact or manmade object should be classified as art and how the arts relate to one another and to the world, often as part of a broader systematic philosophy or focused theory of aesthetics. Disputes continue about what does and does not count as art.
