Rey-Maupin affair
The Rey-Maupin affair refers to a series of violent crimes committed in Paris on 4 October 1994 and its legal aftermath. The two perpetrators, Florence Rey and Audry Maupin, robbed two police officers before hijacking a taxi, taking its driver and a passenger hostage. When the taxi driver caused an accident to alert police, Maupin killed the driver and two police officers during a shootout before engaging patrol vehicles in a car chase. Following another crash, Maupin and a third police officer were killed during a second shootout.
